Household Hints - Cleaning Tips

1. To remove magic marker ink from surfaces spray a little hair spray over the surface and gently clean.
2. To remove candle wax from walls and other surfaces use an iron and facial tissue.  Place the tissue over the wax and gently iron.  Apply a new tissue when the wax seeps through or the tissue begins to brown.
3. To dust cracks and hard to reach areas around the house use paint brushes.  This can be great for stereos, telephones, electronics, and other small items.
4. To remove blood from clothing or furniture use hydrogen peroxide and rub gently.
5. To repair cigarette burns, cut blackened fibers away from the hole, squeeze liquid glue into the hole and add fibers that have been trimmed from the carpet remnants.
6. Applying car wax to sticking doors will make it easier to open and close.
7. To clean windows screens use nylon covered sponges.
8. To clean chrome use seltzer water or club soda.
9. To remove smoke odor from a room place a bowl of vinegar out to absorb the odor.
10. To remove gum use ice to harden it and a dull knife to remove it.
11. To repair small holes in window screens use clear nail polish.
12. To kill wandering flies use hair spray.
